Scale Modellers Malaysia  is a non-profit organization whose primary objective is to inculcate, promote and advance the fascinating hobby of Scale Modelling, the accurate representation of real life as well as futuristic innovations in miniature.

Scale Modelling is a truly a unique hobby in that it amalgamates history, science and art in the research, building, painting and creation of scaled down versions of often real life subjects. These may range from Airplanes, Ships, Figures, and Spaceships to buildings and may span from the historical to the futuristic. The background of the modelers is just as diverse as the subject matter and can range from students to professionals from all walks of life.

SMM was officially registered on Nov 19th, 2020 with the Malaysian Registrar of Societies in line with the Societies Act of 1966 with membership open to all Malaysian citizens of 18 years and above. However, in reality there are no actual age restrictions as the younger generation is encouraged to join this absorbing, rewarding and educational hobby with the provision that they submit a written consent from their guardians.

Membership of SMM via past experience in other earlier modelling societies like SFTPMS, continue the success of organizing nation wide modelling competitions, promotional road shows and technical workshops/clinics thanks to the tireless, purely voluntary effort of its members as well as the generosity of local hobby stores. However, SMM is by no means alone in that Scale Modelling enjoys a much larger, world wide following and is one hobby that truly transcends borders, nationalities and cultures. All modelers irrespective of the race, culture or social standing share a common bond and that is a passion for scale modelling.
