The Merdeka Group Build '08 Exhibition titled "Path of A Nation" was held over the 30th and 31st August 2008 weekend at MyScififan Outpost, Cineleisure, Damansara.
We are pleased to give you a photo record of the event for your viewing pleasure. After a round of previews at Miniature Hobby, a good part of the collection was loaded up and transported over to the venue. A good portion of the airforce 'flew' over with thanks to Hobby HQ for the loaner and WillPhang acting as the transport minister with his entourage of Vietnamese visitors. It was good to know that they were pleasently surprised and had a good time admiring the models.
The Saturday morning volunteer crew set up the tables and collection in a timeline theme, 1900s-1950s for the precursor to merdeka, 1950s-1980s the formative years and 1980s-2000s moderm Malaysia.
Due to the traffic diversions in the area, the crowd only started to trickle in in the late afternoon. It was good to receive a few pilots and airforce mechanics as visitors in part due to Bud Bilko's handiwork. (many thanks)
A total of more than 60 over models were on display. Notably missing was the airforce numbers of Merdeka'07. Hopefully in the years to come, the collection for the Armoured Corp, cars and events for the 1960-1980s period can grow to complete the collection. This year, we saw an increase of only 15 models from Merdeka07.
The pics of the events, some of the models and volunteers and visitors in no particular order completes this brief report.
A round of applause and appreciation goes out to the Volunteers; Jason Koh (who did his tour of duty despite being down with a flu), Modelstarter (most manhours clocked!), See Liang, Peter Chan (PCEvo), Will Phang, Kwong Yan, Naza (dremel), Harman (xamel1975), Imran (druid99), Badri (Bud Bilko), CPTan, CK Tang (beachbum), YGTan, Richard Foenander and Silantra.
