[Eduard] Boris Safonov

This will start off as a review of the Eduard 1:16 scale Boris Safonov figure kit

Eager to try out Eduard's quality in their attempt at figure molding, I promptly added this kit into my collection. On initial inspection, the part count is broken down into 2 trees with an addition of a PE fret to add all the extra medals and minute details in fine colour. The instruction sheet is typically Eduard and the quality of the parts looks quite good and detailed. However there was a big concern that the part breakdown into 2 halfs for most of the appendages were rather similar to Miniart's figure kits which was quite problematic to put together, requiring quite a lot of putty work. As I proceeded to put the kit together, the same situation is evident in the kit, requiring a lot of coaxing and putty work later. More will be covered in a later part of this continuing article. The sculpt and pose is rather relaxed but well executed.

Eduard managed to produce a very comprehensive package with the inclusion of a comic like sketch of Boris Safonov's role in WW2. The subject matter is interesting and is recommended for modeller's with a bit of experience as the cleanup can be frustrating for beginners.
